Introduction

This guide is intended for the Krumware team and invited guests to explore Trailhand prior to it's public release. You'll find useful links, information regarding the Trailhand design philosophy and principles, and other resources as they become available.

Trailhand is the design system for building truly custom developer platforms. By prioritizing flexibility, Trailhand allows designers and developers to create internal tools, portals, and engineering workshops that teams actually want to use.

Unlike general-purpose UI kits, Trailhand is specific to developer teams. And unlike pre-packaged design systems like Backstage, Trailhand allows full flexibility by utilizing web components. We're aiming to hit the sweetspot between adaptability and specialization. Use any framework, or no framework at all and get all of the benefits of a platform-focused design system.

Given the massive gap that currently exists for a functional design system like Trailhand, we're expecting to rapidly add to this site and the entire Trailhand system in the coming months and years.
